Megan Mullalay (Karen Walker) will miss two episodes of the final season of Will & Grace
Will & Grace star Megan Mullalay will be absent from two episodes of the show’s final ever season, amid reports of a behind-the-scenes feud.
The revived show is already set to draw to a close for good at the end of its current season, after three years back on the air.
However, it might not be the most dignified end to the show – with news that Megan Mullalay, who plays queen of sass Karen Walker, will be missing from at least two episodes of the final run.
Instagram drama leads to speculation of Megan Mullalay feud
The absence has fuelled reports of behind-the-scenes bad blood between Mullalay and her castmates, after eagle-eyed fans noticed earlier this year that she had unfollowed Debra Messing and Sean Hayes, who play Grace and Jack, on Instagram.
In a less-than-cryptic Instagram post in May, Mullalay wrote: “It’s okay to let go of relationships that aren’t healthy and positive, even with people you’ve known for years and once trusted.
“Shout out to the people who are happy for your happiness, who feel the excitement when you win, who take joy in your success.”
She continues to follow Eric McCormack, who plays Will.
Speaking to Us Magazine in September, McCormack dismissed speculation of a rift as “crazy,” adding: “I think people worried about that entirely too much… The four of us get along like a house on fire, we always have.”
However, his comments have done little to stop speculation around a Will & Grace feud.
The foursome have seldom been spotted together off-screen over the past few months, with Mullalay absent from selfies that Messing posted with her two male co-stars.
Will & Grace is ending to ‘protect the legacy of the show’
The end of Will & Grace for the second time was confirmed in July.
Explaining their reason for ending the show, creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick explained: “At the end of this year, we will have made a total of 246 episodes of Will & Grace over 11 seasons and 21 years.
“It is our belief that throughout this time, we have been able to sustain a level of quality that we can all be incredibly proud of, especially these past three seasons.
“In the interest of protecting the legacy of this show and the truly outstanding work that went into making every episode, we have decided now is the time to stop.”
The pair continued: “We should all consider ourselves very lucky, we have all had a once-in-a-lifetime experience twice. Thank you. We love you.”
