When Rihanna makes a declaration, the world tends to listen. While she may not be ready to present the ninth album yet (answers needed!), she is announcing her next Savage X Fenty venture: the first-ever designer collaboration and Valentine’s Day capsule collection.

It was confirmed that Adam Selman, who delivered one of the definitive looks of the decade with Rihanna’s CFDA Awards naked dress, will collab with the singer once more. Adam Selman for Savage X Fenty launches January 1 with a Valentine’s Day collection and additional drops through April 2020.

“I couldn’t imagine anyone other than Adam [Selman] for Savage X Fenty’s first designer collaboration,” Rihanna said in a statement. “Adam is everything the brand stands for – fun, playful, sexy.”

Selman reiterated the enthusiasm, stating: “Lingerie is something I’ve always wanted to design. So many of my collections have been influenced and inspired by lingerie detailing and fabrics, so I jumped at the chance when Rihanna approached me to collaborate with Savage X Fenty. Creating sexy pieces that empower and make you feel confident is at the core of everything I do, that is something Rihanna and I have always connected over.”

The news comes on the heels of a standout 2019 for Savage X Fenty. In September, the brand debuted a splashy runway show during New York Fashion Week. November brought news that Normani would be the first-ever celebrity ambassador for Fenty. Now, a 19-piece Valentine’s Day drop will arrive in the form of two collections—’Locket Down’ and ‘Down the Aisle.’

The former will utilize ’80s-inspired ruffles and bows, while the latter is influenced by an ’80s riot girl aesthetic. The collection also includes two VIP boxes— Locket Down at $59.95 and Down the Aisle at $39.95. Sizes range from 32A to 42DD and XS to 3X.

When asked about the V-Day launch, which Rihanna first approached Selman about in 2018, he told Fashionista:”I definitely wanted it to feel like a mix between Rihanna and me, as well as the Savage X customer who’s just unabashedly herself. I wanted it to have a little bit of frill and a little bit of ruffle, but I wanted to have a little bit of sleaze, too — and I’m using ‘sleaze’ as a good word, because I wanted it to be really sexy and fun.”

Selman also dove into the fitting process for the new line. “Just being there for every single fitting was pretty fascinating,” he said, adding, “If you have never seen Rihanna fit a panty, you’re really missing out.”
