Demi Lovato has opened up about her powerful new tattoo that represents her “spiritual awakening” following a stint in rehab.
The bisexual singer shared a photo of the beautiful tattoo, which depicts a fallen angel being lifted by three doves, on Instagram on February 11.
In the post, Lovato explained that she “went dark” on social media recently ahead of her Super Bowl and Grammy performances.
“I got this incredibly meaningful tattoo done by Alessandro Capozzi,” she wrote.

Lovato had “no idea” what tattoo she wanted, so she told the tattoo artist about what she had been going through.
“We created a combination on images that best symbolized the spiritual awakening I was having,” she wrote.
“Having a fallen angel being lifted by three, pure, angelic doves (the Holy trinity) as her inner light is being guided by a higher consciousness, and the disintegration of her dark wings was representing the darkness I was shedding,” she added.

The 27-year-old revealed her new tattoo shortly after returning to the spotlight with her new song ‘Anyone’, which she debuted at the Grammy Awards in January.
Her comeback came a year and a half after she was hospitalised following an overdose, and she later spent time in rehab.
Star revealed she was open to dating both men and women in 2017.
A year before her overdose, Lovato revealed that she was open to dating both men and women. “That’s how I’ve always felt,” she said at the time.
Last week, she told SiriusXM host Andy Cohen that telling her family about her sexuality was “emotional, but really beautiful.”
“After everything was done, I was, like, shaking and crying, and I just felt overwhelmed,” she said.
“My dad was like, ‘Yeah, obviously.’
“And I was like, ‘Oh, OK, dad.’
“My mom was the one that I was, like, super nervous about, but she was just like, ‘I just want you to be happy,’” Lovato said, quipping her “Cool for the Summer” lyrics.
“That was so beautiful and amazing, and like I said, I’m so grateful,” she said.
