Former Fox News pundit Glenn Beck claimed Pete Buttigieg cannot say US President Donald Trump’s behaviour goes against Christianity because he is gay, so is “antithetical” to the Bible.
The Democratic presidential candidate has long used his Christian faith as a ballast in his campaign, but has recently been assaulted by conservative commentators – and even his brother-in-law – criticising his faith.
Beck’s blasting of Buttigieg is the latest salvos the contender has faced.
Speaking on The Glenn Beck Radio Show on Thursday, the conspiracy theorist claimed that Buttigieg cannot reference the Bible because it is “antithetical” to his “lifestyle”, according to Media Matters.

Buttigieg, a devout Episcopalian, cautioned at a CNN town hall Tuesday that he did not feel he had a right “to tell other Christians how to be Christians.
“But I will say,” he said, “I can’t find any compatibility between the way this president conducts himself and anything I find in Scripture.”
“A lot of people would find your lifestyle antithetical to what is found in the Bible,” Beck said, responding to the former South Bend, Indiana mayor’s comments.
“I mean, you just, Pete, you can’t make this claim.”
Beck, a devout Mormon, spouted: “Well, you also can’t find anything but stoning of homosexuality and stoning of homosexuals in the Bible too.”
He quickly clarified that it’s “not an endorsement” of stoning queer people. Yet, no reason how this was not the case was provided.
“At best you can say, well, Jesus never talked about it,” he said. “Well, Jesus never talked about tweeting either.”
“Look, I, mean, you know, I try to live my life based on, you know, basic principles, many of them were found in the Bible, and I don’t know how to square [my] behavior.”
Such “basic principles” among Christian teaching include but are not limited to, treating human beings with compassion and love and not judging them.
We wonder if Beck has read the Bible.
“You can’t pick and choose if you’re going to use the Bible,” Beck added.
Right.
