Jeff Lowe Says There Will Be A New Episode Of Tiger King Next Week

Movies

Jeff Lowe, one of the now-infamous shady characters from Netflix’s hit docu-series, Tiger King, says there will be a brand new episode added to the show next week. The series has held a stranglehold over pop-culture since its debut in late March and has become so immensely popular that a scripted adaptation has been put on the fast track with Kate McKinnon attached to produce and star as Carole Baskin. The role of the titular Tiger King, on the other hand, has not yet been cast, though Joe Exotic himself has a few ideas on who should play him.

One of the most universally reviled characters on the show was millionaire con-man Jeff Lowe, whose money helped bail Joe Exotic out of financial ruin when his legal war with Carole Baskin proved too costly. Lowe used his position as the money man to borrow tigers from the zoo for popularity stunts in Las Vegas and later ended up taking over the zoo entirely. He and his wife Lauren are clearly enjoying the attention that comes with the show, despite apparently wanting no part of a second season, and are capitalizing on it in the form of Cameo videos where they’re paid to send short messages to fans.

In one of those videos, posted to Twitter by LA Dodger Justin Turner, Jeff and Lauren revealed that they would be filming their portion of a new episode “tomorrow” that will be streaming on Netflix as soon as next week. Check out the video below:

Tiger King left many viewers wondering what happened next, with so many plot threads still unfinished, that it will come as a very welcome surprise the streamer is returning to the well so soon. The final episode concludes with Joe Exotic’s guilty verdict but implies that the legal troubles for many others, such as Jeff Lowe and would-be hitman Allen Glover, are only beginning. If this extra episode is indeed happening, it seems likely special attention will be paid to those lingering questions.

Of course, Jeff Lowe is hardly a reliable source – given everything he does in Tiger King - so it’s worth taking this “reveal” with a grain of salt. It makes sense that Netflix would want to continue dominating the conversation online, and more episodes are a sure-fire way to do that, but this kind of follow-up would be unprecedented. Netflix has never given this treatment to any of its other hyper-popular true-crime stories, so it’s tough to believe they will be doing so for Tiger King based solely on the word of Jeff Lowe.
