On the Radar: Beyond Fear, and more

Books

Isolation is a major theme in current affairs at the moment and it’s also a theme in two or three of this week’s new books. We lead off with Jaye Ford’s psychological thriller Beyond Fear, which takes us away to into the Australian countryside. But if you check out the covers of the new books by David Baldacci, Joe Ricker and BE Jones, they also have a lost, lonely and dangerous feel to them. We’re still on lockdown due to Covid-19 here at Crime Fiction Lover, but we’re keeping the new book suggestions coming your way, along with plenty of reviews.

We’ll get through this. Stay safe and stay well.

Beyond Fear by Jaye Ford

When Jodie and three friends set off for a converted barn in the wilds of New South Wales, all they’re hoping to do is spend some time away from their family and the rat race. But some creepy knocking at the window and a group of men camping nearby reawakens something in Jodie. As a teenager, she was violently attacked and the mental scars have long outlasted the physical ones. Jodie is convinced she and her friends are all in danger, but they won’t listen to her. Then she starts to doubt herself, and that’s when things turn tragic in this suspenseful psychological thriller. Beyond Fear won awards in Australia and is published in the UK on 20 April.

Because the victim was also a teacher for a local religious sect by day. As the residents of London close ranks, the body count begins to rise…
