Actor Rob Lowe is ‘developing’ a Tiger King project with Ryan Murphy. His dog, however, is terrified of the road ahead, apparently. (Instagram)
We officially have confirmation that we’re in the Bad Place and the darkest timeline after actor Rob Lowe shared a photo of himself dressed as Tiger King star Joe Exotic.
The truly cursed image shows The Outsiders star dressed in a floral shirt dotted with leopards, complete with a handlebar moustache and flowing golden locks while holding a dog as truly petrified as we are.
Lowe revealed Monday in the Instagram post that the 56-year-old is in talks with director Ryan Murphy, the creator of American Horror Story and essentially anything remotely gay on television, for an adaptation of the Netflix docu-series.
Rob Lowe ‘developing’ Tiger King adaptation with Ryan Murphy.
In a scripted take on the wild tale, those familiar with the show told Deadline that the adaptation is in very preliminary stages.
Teasing the show, Lowe captioned the photographs that successfully auditioned for the role of ‘Nightmare #1’ in our dreams: “Ryan Murphy and I will be developing our version of this insane story.
“Stay tuned!”
This wouldn’t be the pair’s first venture working together, considering that Lowe currently stars in Fox’s spinoff series, 9-1-1: Lone Star, co-created and executive produced by Murphy, 54.
Sources told Deadline that the adaptation would like drop on the streamer Netflix.
Basically, everyone wants to play Joe Exotic in the Tiger King adaptation.
Talks of who would play the gay gun-toting polygamist mullet-styled redneck serving 22 years in prison have raged ever since the show seized the after-work hours of countless folks across the world.
Those involved in the show have touted an array of glittery celebrities to play themselves.
Exotic, according to series director Rebecca Chaiklin, suggested Brad Pitt or David Space to play him.
Former flame to Exotic, John Finlay, put forward Channing Tatum to play himself, while Saff – who likely suffered back problems from shouldering the moral weight of the entire show on his shoulders – said he wants Tayler Lautner to play him.
Moreover, a TV drama version of the events of Tiger King is in the pipeline and has been since November.
Kate McKinnon is set to play Carole Baskin in the upcoming series.
Exotic has not yet been cast but dozens of celebrities have thrown their hats into the ring, including Shepard, Jared Leto, Shane West and Edward Norton.
American DJ Diplo offered his own dream roster of actors, casting himself as Exotic with Prince Charles as Baskin’s softly-spoken husband Howard.
