RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 5 starts in just a few days, following hot on the heels of the season 12 winner being crowned. Here’s all the piping hot tea we have.
After RuPaul crowned his latest drag superstar in an emotional and surprisingly satisfying finale, fans of the show will barely have time to catch their breath before the machine whirrs back into motion.
All Stars 5 will kick off next weekend, with 10 queens returning for a second (or in some cases, third) bite at the apple.
RuPaul has confirmed that Shea Coulée, Jujubee, Miz Cracker, Alexis Matteo, Blair St Clair, Mariah Balenciaga, India Ferrah, Derrick Barry, Mayhem Miller and Ongina will all be returning to the werk room.
When does Drag Race All Stars 5 start?
Drag Race All Stars 5 will debut on Friday June 5 at 8pm.
A leaked blurb has confirmed that the premiere episode will be another talent show special, with the queens set to show off their talents in a “Werq the World Variety Extravaganza”.
Ricky Martin will guest judge the first episode, which will also introduce a shock new twist.
A trailer for the season confirmed that the lip-sync for your legacy format is being scrapped in favour of a lip-sync assassin challenge.
Each week, RuPaul will name one winner, who will then go head to head with a returning queen from seasons past.
Should the All Stars queen win, she’ll be given a cash tip and the power to eliminate. If the assassin wins, the remaining queens will vote one of the bottom queens out, and the prize will roll over.
The new season was originally set to air on Showtime, however with the cast announcement came the news that the show will instead remain on VH1.
The decision came after a backlash from fans who were less than eager to pay the $10.99 per month premium for Showtime.

Network owners said the switch back to VH1 was due to the coronavirus pandemic, which “resulted in various scheduling and programming adjustments”.
