Cummurots and shoppers pummelling the Los Angeles, California pavements on Tuesday (June 2) may have seen a sight that nobody could have anticipated: Irish X Factor duo Jedward atop a car holding a “Black Lives Matter” sign.

John and Edward Grimes were one of hundreds of West Hollywood residents clad in black clothing and face masks protesting against police brutality. The weekslong protests across the US were sparked after the death of George Floyd on May 26.

The 28-year-old twins took to Twitter to share footage of them cheering on demonstrators in Hollywood Boulevard before hopping on the boots and bonnets of moving cars.

Planet Jedward fans were, of course, euphoric at seeing the singers on the frontlines, but most of the world were as baffled as they were, well, not at all surprised that Jedward was doing more for the movement than US president Donald Trump currently is.

Jedward join countless Black Lives Matter protesters in what is truly peak 2020.

Major thoroughfares of the city have been snarled by Black Lives Matter protesters for days, with charred cruiser frames and shattered glass dotting the streets. Bringing their open challenge to white supremacy to Los Angeles’ largely white and rich Westside.

Jedward joined Tuesday’s march as countless snaked through palm trees and boarded-up shops. They’re both staying in the city at friend Tara Reid’s home, the Mirror reported.

John snapped himself knelt on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in front of a throng of armed forces, holding a sign reading “Black Lives Matter”.

The pair then stood on moving vehicles driving down roads holding signs and chanting “no justice, no peace”.

Jedward also captioned another video of the protests with “I can’t breathe”, the words sputtered by Floyd as a white, Minneapolis officer’s knee dug into his neck in an explosive viral video.

They later stood behind other demonostraters carrying a large, unfurled sign reading: “Stronger together”.

As absolutely nobody expected John and Edward manifesting back on our timelines to suddenly rally for the demise of institutional racism, the world was pretty taken aback.
