On October 2, Mariah Carey will release a set of her favorite rarities from across her catalog. This Friday, she’ll tee it up with a newly recorded song called “Save the Day,” which samples Ms. Lauryn Hill’s vocals from the Fugees classic “Killing Me Softly With His Song.” The Rarities comes with a bonus disc featuring a previously unreleased, 17-track live album recorded in Tokyo in 1996.
Mariah recently announced a memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey. It’s due out September 29 via Andy Cohen Books and Audible, celebrating the 30th anniversary of her debut album. Written with Michaela Angela Davis, the book is “composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival and my songs,” Mariah said. The audiobook version will be read by the singer herself and “interwoven with special musical components.”
