Niecy Nash has come out in the best way possible: by introducing her new wife to the world.

The acclaimed actress, 50, who divorced her husband last year, announced her marriage to Jessica Betts on Instagram with a beautiful picture of their wedding.

“Mrs Carol Denise Betts,” Nash captioned the post, using her full legal name, along with an emoji of an engagement ring and the hashtag #LoveWins.

The Claws star has never spoken publicly about her sexuality in the past, but in another post wrote “Plot twist!” along with an emoji rainbow.

Niecy Nash comes out as queer and marries her wife in one fell swoop.

The happy couple were congratulated by famous friends including Lena Waithe and Sarah Paulson.

“I love you so much,” Paulson commented.

“Congrats Niecy Nash!!! Sending y’all so much love!!!” Waithe wrote.

Niecy Nash and her new wife Jessica Betts had posted about each other on social media in the past, but had never explicitly commented on the nature of their relationship.

Betts, a singer-songwriter who won the reality competition The Road to Stardom with Missy Elliott in 2005, performed at Nash’s second wedding to Jay Tucker in 2011. Nash was previously married to Don Nash from 1994 to 2007.

In February, Betts posted a topless photo of Nash to her Instagram to celebrate the star’s birthday.

“Happy birthday to a real one,” Betts captioned the photo.

Nash shared a photo of them together on the set of Claws in 2018, where she referred to Betts as her “homegirl”.

The acclaimed actress is widely loved by the LGBT+ community.

Nash has been a longtime supporter of the LGBT+ community, and she has played queer roles on-screen throughout her lengthy career.

In 2017, the Scream Queens star opened up about her relationship with religion in an interview with Pride Source, and said she believes it’s possible to be pro-LGBT+ and religious.

“My philosophy now is that you can be whatever you want to be,” Nash said.

“People feel you have to put blame on everything, but whether you label it or not, your truth is your truth.

“And I don’t wish to live a lie on anybody. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. And yes, it can be challenging, but the people who really love you and who are standing in support of you will be all right with it.”
