2020 is the year that finally, “fetch” happened.

In a marketing ploy that, to be frank, we’re surprised took 16 years to do, foodstuffs company Pilsbury has launched a Mean Girls-inspired Toaster Strudel and it’s honestly a work of art.

After all, when your dad is the inventor of the Toaster Strudel, it’s only fair that your get your own limited-edition product with your face and the slang, from England, mind you, that you tried to make happen on it, right?

“And ALL for Gretchen Wieners,” Toaster Strudel’s Twitter account declared on Wednesday (September 2), because we guess on Wednesdays we now have to eat “Mean Girls Inspired Toaster Strudel with Limited Edition Pink Icing”.

Toaster Strudel really just made ‘fetch’ happen with long-awaited Mean Girls collaboration.

Toaster Strudel first teased about the collaboration in late August, tweeting out a mock group chat with the Plastics discussing a “fetch surprise” coming in September.

Lacey Chabert, who played the third of the Plastics in the original 2004 film, threw on her finest white gold hoops and pink sweater to share the news on her Instagram on the big day.

“On Wednesdays, we make everything pink!” she said. “I DO think my father, the inventor of Toaster Strudel, would be pleased to hear about . . . @MeanGirls inspired TOASTER STRUDEL!”

“We’re thrilled to bring this limited-edition Mean Girls product and sweepstakes to fans everywhere, especially for all the not-so-regular, but cool moms out there,” said Keavy O’Malley Keyes, senior brand experience planner at General Mills, in a news release.

“For years, we’ve enjoyed seeing the art fans have made using Toaster Strudel icing and can’t wait to see the fun designs they come up with using our new Mean Girls-inspired pink icing.”

Indeed, Pillsbury announced a competition titled “The Most Fetch Toaster Strudel Icing Sweepstakes”, because capitalism innovation, in which people can submit their best icing design to win a personalised video message from Chabert as well as one year’s worth of Toaster Strudel and one Mean Girls merchandise.

Competitors have to post their submissions by, you guessed it, October 3 to enter.
