Ashley Martson and Jay Smith from 90 Day Fiancé recently announced their tumultuous marriage is over, and it looks like this time it’s for good. Martson revealed on her Instagram story that she was unable to overlook Smith’s cheating past, leading to the demise of their relationship.
Thirty-four-year-old Martson and 22-year-old Smith appeared on season six of 90 Day Fiancé and married in Las Vegas in 2018. Despite Martson catching Smith on dating apps only days after their marriage, the pair stayed together and were featured on season four of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?. On Happily Ever After?, Martson discovered that Smith had sex with a woman at the barbershop/tattoo parlor where he worked and threatened to attempt to have him deported to his home country of Jamaica. Since their marriage, Martson has filed for divorce twice and retracted the filing both times. She has also filed for a protective order against Smith, which she retracted when they reconciled in the summer of 2019 before breaking up again at the end of the year. This most recent breakup comes after a short-lived reconciliation from March to September of 2020.

In a question and answer session with fans on her Instagram story, Martson revealed exactly when she knew the marriage wouldn’t survive. She realized that something was wrong when she “couldn’t even focus in school” because she was too distracted by the thought that Smith was cheating on her once again. Martson also said that “after the freshness of getting back together wore off, and we would fight, I would bring it up.” She acknowledged that although both parties tried hard to make the marriage work, they realized that the relationship was not healthy for either of them.
As for Smith’s plans, Martson admitted that she has no idea where her ex is. When a fan asked where Smith is currently living, Martson replied, “That isn’t my business… My home was open to him till [sic] he got his own home. He chose to leave and stay with someone else.” She also stated that she has no plans to re-enter the dating world anytime soon, instead announcing that “I will date after I take time to heal.“
Both Martson and Smith’s Instagram pages have been scrubbed of their relationship and all traces of their personal lives. Smith seems to be utilizing his online presence to promote his tattoo business, Jay Skinz Tattoo. Martson is similarly promoting her professional life online. The only photos left on her Instagram account feature her makeup brand, Pout by D&A. Here’s hoping Martson and Smith are both doing well during this difficult time.
