Ryan Gosling will play a stuntman in an upcoming movie from David Leitch. Gosling has played a wide variety of characters, with some of the actor’s best films flying under the radar, but he’s developed a habit of playing stuntmen. In 2011’s Drive, he starred as an unnamed Hollywood stunt worker who moonlights as a getaway driver. The following year, Gosling portrayed a motorcycle stunt rider in The Place Beyond the Pines.
The untitled project landed at Universal after a heated auction. Several studios, including MGM, Netflix, and Paramount, were reportedly interested. Guymon Casady will serve as a producer, along with Gosling, Leitch, and Kelly McCormick. This project is only the latest on Gosling’s slate.
Gosling will headline The Gray Man for Netflix, appearing alongside Chris Evans in an espionage thriller from Joe and Anthony Russo. The actor is also set to portray an astronaut in an MGM film and step into the role of Wolfman. Leitch is busy in his own right, as the director will helm the action movie Bullet Train starring Brad Pitt. Based on their past, however, it looks like the untitled stuntman drama will carry a particular interest for both Gosling and Leitch.
