Bachelorette: What Is Tayshia Adams’ Ethnicity? Meet Her Parents & Family

Movies

Since stepping into the shoes of Clare Crawley, The Bachelorette’s Tayshia Adams has been doing nothing but turning heads. Tayshia’s chemistry with her men is unbeatable, and so is her poise and vulnerability. In one such vulnerable moment during a date with Ivan Hall, where the pair discussed ‘Black Lives Matter’ The Bachelorette opened up about her blending in while being biracial. Here’s a little more info on Tayshia’s nationality and her parents which make her a truly special Bachelorette.

The Bachelor Nation fan-favorite Tayshia had first appeared on Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor. The California native’s announcement as Clare’s replacement came as a welcome surprise. Since then, the level-headed Virgo has managed to spin the mess of the Dale drama around, and her men too, are leaving no stone unturned to win Tayshia’s rose. The latest episode saw Bennett rap, Kenny croon, and Noah sulk, but it was Ivan who wooed the phlebotomist with his “I can see you as my wife.” Their lowkey one-on-one date which followed showed Ivan explaining his past about dealing with the n-word at a campus which didn’t have enough Black people and about his brother possibly facing correctional brutality. This made Tayshia too, talk about the prejudices she’s faced growing up biracial, which The Bachelorette had also addressed on her Instagram in June. But what is it that makes Tayshia create history with her ongoing season on ABC?

The Bachelor Nation has been seeing the franchise make slow progress with every season, and Tayshia’s selection came as a big win for the show. While many may call the 30-year-old the second Black lead to appear on The Bachelorette following Rachel Lindsay, but Tayshia is also the reality show’s first-ever Afro-Latina star. In the show’s 20 odd years, Tayshia’s inclusion has her representing two cultures, two communities, as Black and Latina. While being born and raised in Orange County makes Tayshia’s nationality American, her family consists of mom Rosario who’s Mexican, and dad Desmond, who’s African American. When asked about how she felt about taking up this platform to become an amazing role model for fans the world over by THR, Tayshia had commented, “I was feeling a lot of things I had never felt before.” The former Bachelor In Paradise star had added, “And the thing that I thought about was: not only am I African American, but I am Mexican, and I’m going to have an opportunity to have a platform to relate to so many women who look like me, who haven’t had the opportunity to relate to someone in the past.”

Tayshia also has three siblings, brothers Desmond Jr. and Brice and sister Dominique. As reported by Life & Style, The Bachelorette’s brother Desmond is more closer to her age and is often seen with Tayshia visiting wineries and attending special family occasions. On his private IG, Desmond refers to himself as the “unofficial extra on the Bachelor,” meanwhile sister Dominique has recently graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2019. Dominique’s Instagram suggests that she’s training to become a helicopter pilot, while the youngest brother and teenager Price completed eighth grade this year.

One of Tayshia’s biggest goals for the year was to “really be there for her family” who’s the support system she’s blessed to have on her “crazy rollercoaster life,” which shows her closeness to them. Friends, faith, and family always comes first for The Bachelorette and she surely will be looking for a man who fits right in. Would any of Tayshia’s remaining suitors be making their way into the Adams’ family? The eager Bachelor Nation sure can’t wait to find out!
