In what is the latest but certainly not the last moment of Trumpian horror, a video of Donald Trump, his family and closest allies partying and dancing to “Gloria” by Laura Branigan hours before chaotic riots tore through Capitol Hill.

Is it too early to ask when 2021 will be over yet?

Video footage showed the Trump family humming along to the 1980s queer banger as they praised the droves of supporters ahead of the violent collisions between rioters and authorities.

It revealed Trump, among others, looking at and recording on their mobile phones surveillance footage of the “Save America” rally at the Ellipse, by the White House in Washington DC, Wednesday morning (6 January).

“I can’t believe the size of the crowds I’m seeing out there,” Donald Trump Jr said in the Facebook video.

“Literally, there’s gotta be 100,000 people it goes all the way to the Washington Monument.

“Just awesome patriots that are sick of the bullshit. So, thank you all for that. It’s actually hard to believe.”

It then showed Trump Jr’s partner, Kimberly Ann Guilfoyle, shimmying and beaming as she boogies to “Gloria”.

At the rally, Trump provoked attendees with a roiling 70-minute speech, urging his loyal supporters to “be so respectful of everybody” but then describing his opponents as bad people.

He lampooned the presidential election result as an “egregious assault on our democracy” before calling on them to “walk down to the Capitol.”

“We are going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women,” he continued, “and we are probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them — because you will never take back our country with weakness.”

Laura Branigan’s legacy manager: Trump had ‘no permission’ to use ‘Gloria’

Branigan’s legacy manager, Kathy Golik, took aim at the Trump household for using the late singer’s work in a damning statement posted to Twitter.

“No permission to use ‘Gloria’, nor endorsement of him, past or present, was granted to Pres Trump on behalf of Laura or her legacy management company,” she wrote.

“And we strongly and vehemently DO NOT condone yesterday’s events at the Capitol. It’s absolutely appalling to hear ‘Gloria’ being played in the background of a widely-circulating video of Pres Trump from yesterday, given the tragic, unsettling, & shameful happenings that occurred at the US Capitol.

“It’s very sad and upsetting to see Laura’s beautiful memory and legacy have any association with Pres Trump and such a dark day in US history.

“Neither Laura, nor her music, deserve any unwarranted fallout due to the actions of others.”
