eye wanted to make something to honor tha poem by Amiri Baraka tht eye feel inspired so many or to those who neva heard of it. when eye created tha song it was coming from a pace of tiredness and weakness, not weak in mind but weak by time and stress. as a black man I’ve always felt eager to escape to tha next dimension and leave tha worries and evils of this world behind. This piece was inspired by Kwama Ture on the key differences in Organization and Mobilization. When eye hear Amiri say Nation Tyme, eye hear organize and mobilize. Eye feel like Society keeps us starring at everything we hate and repeatedly ask us to express or share how we feel afta each stab and bullet wound. We can only bleed so many times before tha boxes fil up, before we explode. Eye wrote this as expression and a extension of how eye would like to view what peace is. Peace is Protection, Defense, it’s Angry, it’s a Conversation with no judgment, it’s Reflective, Patient, and Urgent. Freedom is errthang and Peace and Freedom is something you have to take in most cases cuz in Amerikkka we are always reminded that nothing is free, Not even to tha builders, all black people, and not even to tha mothers of creation, tha black woman. Nation Tyme to me is a roll call to my people, especially if your tired of slave paper counting and u tired of standing, cuz how long must a man stand in line for freedom? How long till my sisters are safe and can walk freely and peacefully and we can love infinitely? How long till blackness is cherished to all and is treated w tha power beauty and respect it’s infinitely possesses. We can look outside and see It’s NATION TYME. Find yo Peace. Protect it.
