Racers, start your engines, as next week will bring not one, but two new episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
After the shocking exit of Ginny Lemon in Thursday’s episode of season two (4 February), the queens entered the werk room and received a shock message.
RuPaul explained that due to the coronavirus pandemic, filming would cease immediately and the queens would need to return home to lock down with the rest of the UK.

As was widely reported at the time, Drag Race UK was forced to pause production for seven months due to the pandemic, the first time in Drag Race herstory the queens have gone on such a long hiatus mid-season.
Though the TV industry fired back up after the first lockdown, RuPaul was only available to film the rest of the season at the end of the year, having travelled back to the US where she filmed season 13 of Drag Race.
While there won’t be any break for viewers, with the competition continuing on Thursday (11 February), the BBC has taken the opportunity to show fans what quarantine life was like for the queens.
On top of the normal Thursday night episode, Drag Race UK will release a special episode on Friday (12 February) containing a mix of self-filmed video diaries and interview footage, giving fans an exclusive look at what happened to the queens during the seven-month break.
Expect emotional highs and lows, an insight into the queens’ struggles navigating their careers through a pandemic, and a look at how they used the break to elevate their drag to the next level.
