Chloe Okuno, the up-and-coming director who filmed one of the segments in Bloody Disgusting’s forthcoming V/H/S/94, is currently in pre-production on Watcher, a psychological thriller that Variety reports will star It Follows and The Guest‘s Maika Monroe.

“Watcher follows a young married couple Julia (Monroe) and Francis (Glusman) as they move into a new apartment together in Bucharest, just as a citywide panic is brewing over a possible serial killer on the loose. Julia, who finds herself isolated in her new surroundings, becomes increasingly tormented by the belief that she is being stalked by an unseen watcher in the adjacent building. ”
Karl Glusman (Nocturnal Animals) and Burn Gorman (“Enola Holmes”) costar.
Zack Ford wrote the script, which was featured on the Blood List.
The film hails from Image Nation Abu Dhabi and Spooky Pictures, a new low budget genre label recently formed by producers Roy Lee (The Ring, It, Doctor Sleep, The Boy, The Woman in Black) and Steven Schneider (Pet Sematary, Paranormal Activity, Insidious).
Okuno is the director of the award-winning AFI short film “Slut”, which can be viewed below, centered on a naive young girl becoming the target of a murderous sociopath when she attempts to reinvent herself to impress the boys in her small Texas town.
She has since been writing the reboot of 1977 supernatural thriller Audrey Rose for Orion Pictures and Platinum Dunes, as well as Bodies, Bodies, Bodies for A24.
