Depending on your view of Seinfeld, RareBird Games’ upcoming Sinfeld Remastered is either your dream come true, or a nightmare upon a nightmare. Originally conceived in Media Molecule’s Dreams as Sinfeld Chronicles, the new version of the game will be headed to PC and the PlayStation 5 this October (thanks, AV Club).
Essentially, the game is a mashup of pop culture references, combined with numerous references to Seinfeld. The original Sinfeld Chronicles had you playing as Donathan, Jerry’s baby nephew. After Donathan accidentally wets Jerry’s bed, he goes on a quest for new sheets. From there it gets, uh, weird.
The trailer for Sinfeld Remastered describes the game as an “action horror comedy parody featuring various gameplay styles inspired by Resident Evil, Silent Hills and P.T..” That kind of explains why Donathan drops a quote from Metal Gear Solid and wears Akira’s jacket from Akira, along with the aforementioned references to Seinfeld in the trailer (Assman, the Festivus Pole, Monk’s Restaurant, etc.).
