Now You Can Turn An Echo Dot (4th Gen) Into Baby Yoda

Movies

The Amazon Echo Dot (4th Gen) is getting a Mandalorian-themed makeover, with OtterBox launching a new accessory that transforms the smart speaker into Grogu — better known as Baby Yoda. This news comes just in time for Star Wars Day, giving Star Wars fans another fine addition to add to their collection.

Amazon launched the Echo Dot (4th Gen) in September 2020, and overall, it’s one of the best cheap smart speakers money can buy. It has surprisingly good audio quality, takes up hardly any space, and has all of the great Alexa features people have come to rely on over the years. It also features a radically new design compared to previous generations, ditching the old hockey puck-like shape for a circular aesthetic. Add that together with three color options and a $50 retail price, and the Echo Dot (4th Gen) is hard to ignore.

As good as the Echo Dot looks on its own, that’s not to say there isn’t room for improvement. Looking to give the Echo Dot a bit of flair in honor of everyone’s favorite Star Wars holiday, OtterBox has announced a Grogu-themed stand for the speaker. Just like Grogu/Baby Yoda himself from The Mandalorianthe stand features big, green ears and a tan base to mimic Grogu’s robes. OtterBox previously released the same stand for the Echo Dot (3rd Gen), but now that the 4th Gen model is available, owners of the more recent Echo Dot can get in on the fun, too.

The Echo Dot (4th Gen) Baby Yoda Stand Costs $25

For anyone interested in buying the stand for themselves, pre-orders are open right now on Amazon. OtterBox says shipping won’t begin until June 10, but shoppers can go ahead and secure their order now to make sure they’re among the first to own it. The stand costs $24.95 in the U.S., making it a pretty affordable pickup.

While a stand like this won’t improve or change functionality for the Echo Dot (4th Gen), it is a really neat way to give it a more unique look than it already has. The circular shape of the Echo Dot looks quite good, but it also doesn’t have a lot of character. This stand from OtterBox completely fixes that, and it does so without costing too much money. It may not be the Star Wars accessory for everyone, but for those that are interested, it’s hard to ignore.
