Full House star John Stamos has slammed a Republican congressional candidate who complained the openly gay character in Disney’s Cruella “ruined his childhood”.

Omar Navarro is running for the seat of California’s 43rd congressional district against Maxine Winters. He recently hit out on Twitter against Disney’s latest steps towards better LGBT+ inclusivity in the new Cruella film, which features an openly gay character.

Navarro said the film – which stars Emma Stone as Cruella – “ruined my childhood” because it has an “openly flamboyant gay in the movie”. He ended the tweet by claiming Disney “persist in shoving the LGBT agenda down our throat”.

But John Stamos had the ultimate clapback for Novarro’s intolerant complaint about Cruella. He addressed the other man’s statement head on in a retweet that is sure to further ‘ruin’ his childhood with the inclusive agenda.

Stamos wrote: “If that ruined your childhood, I hope you didn’t watch Full House. Three single men, living under one roof, raising kids in San Francisco…”

The clapback is a nod to Stamos playing Uncle Jesse on the beloved sitcom Full House, which originally aired from 1987 to 1995. He reprised the role on the Netflix reboot Fuller House which ended in June 2020 after five seasons.

Uncle Jesse Katsopolis lived with his brother-in-law Danny Tanner (Bob Saget) and his best friend Joey Gladstone (Dave Coulier). The three men collectively help raise Tanner’s three daughters: DJ, Stephanie and Michelle.

The men are largely single throughout the TV show, but Uncle Jesse does eventually become the spouse of Rebecca Donaldson and the couple have twin sons.

Fans celebrated Stamos and his sick burn for Navarro. One person wrote that the swift rebuttal is yet “another reason to love John Stamos”.

Another person wrote that Navarro’s disdain for Cruella “kinda makes me want to watch” the movie now. They added: “I was kind of indifferent to it until I found out about the prospect of having LGBTQ agendas shoved down my throat.”

Someone else wrote that Stamos’ clapback is “the greatest comment event”. They said Stamos’ “willingness to stand up as an ally” for the LGBT+ community made them “just start a streaming session of Full House“.

“You made my childhood Uncle Jesse crush reflourish,” they wrote.
