Dan Levy has said there are currently no plans to make a Schitt’s Creek film – but he hopes they will make one “eventually”.

The actor – who created the hit Canadian comedy series with his father Eugene Levy – was asked whether he has any plans to bring the cast back together to make a film in an interview with Town and Country magazine.

In May, Annie Murphy, who played Alexis Rose in the series, told Us Weekly that she would be “over the moon” if Dan Levy decided to make a Schitt’s Creek film, joking that she had been bribing him with $5 bills to produce a script.

When asked about her comments – and if there is any possibility of a Schitt’s Creek film happening in the near future – Levy replied: “That pesky woman! No, not right now.”

He continued: “I hope eventually. Listen, I love everybody so much. I love Annie, even for hinting at that. We had such a great time making the show and I think if the idea is right, I would love to explore what a movie could look like.

“But, I don’t have that idea yet. I’m still searching for it. So, my fingers are crossed, but I also think you need to give people a little time to miss you. So, I’m taking some time and we’ll see what happens in the next couple of years, but my fingers are tightly crossed.”

Schitt’s Creek bowed out after six seasons – and fans are desperate for a revival

Schitt’s Creek bowed out in 2020 after a six-season run that broke new ground in LGBT+ representation, with Dan Levy’s character David Rose finding love with Patrick (Noah Reid).

The show went on to sweep the board at the Emmys for its final season – and fans have been begging Dan Levy ever since to bring the cast back together one more time for a film adaptation.

Speaking to E! News in November 2020 about the possibility of a film, Levy said: “I would love for there to be. I’m not ruling it out.”

He told PEOPLE that same month that he thinks every single person who worked on the show, cast and crew, would want to return to make a film.

However, a reboot isn’t on Levy’s radar right this minute. He told Town and Country magazine that he’s been developing a few new projects “quietly”, from animation to drama, but he doesn’t want to share details yet in case he “jinxes” it.
