Sigur Rós have announced a huge new world tour. The Icelandic post-rock band, fronted by out gay singer Jónsi, will visit Mexico, Canada and the United States on their first tour in almost five years.
A new album is set to follow, with the band currently in the studio to record their first album since 2013 so they can premiere their new work in front of audiences who have waited a long time for some new music. Sigur Rós tickets will go on sale in the next few days – read more for when and how to book. But don’t worry if you can’t get concert tickets for any of the ones below, as more dates and locations are expected to be announced.
What’s the lineup?
Fans will be delighted to hear that they’ll be rejoined by keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson for the first time since he left the band in 2013. They’ve kept his space at the keyboard free, though, with Jónsi saying “We never thought about getting somebody else to replace him. I think we just wanted to keep on with the three of us.”

The trio shared a screenshot on Instagram of a recent video call featuring Jónsi, Sveinsson and Georg “Goggi” Holm, captioning it: “Three of us happy to be back together and doing what we love doing. Exciting times ahead.”
What have Sigur Rós been up to?
Even though it’s been a while since the band was together, they’ve all been busy on individual projects. Jónsi produced his third solo album, ‘Shiver’, in 2020 and in 2018 collaborated with fellow out artist (and Drag Race guest star) Troye Sivan.
On a less-positive note, the band were charged with tax fraud in 2019, following a three year investigation that claimed that they had submitted incorrect tax returns and had evaded paying the Icelandic Government 151 million Icelandic Krona. Thankfully they were acquitted, so you can book your concert tickets with a clear conscience.
