Isaac Ezban, hailing out of Mexico, is back with his latest horror entry, Mal de Ojo (Evil Eye), which is currently in post-production and heading to Cannes.
Bloody has the first stills and poster art for the film that follows Nala, a 13-year-old girl from the city, who travels with her family to her grandmother’s home in the countryside, to try to find a cure for her little sister’s mysterious illness – but she’ll soon find her granny is not exactly what she seems.
It stars Ofelia Medina, Paola Miguel, Arap Bethke, and Mauro González.
Ezban is a genre guy, having directed The Incident, The Similars, Parallel, and a segment in Deathcember.
This new one looks atmospheric and chilling, also calling to mind Sam Raimi’s Drag Me to Hell.
Watch for distro news out of the Cannes market.
