Talent matters and Linda Collins possesses it in abundance. There’s no question of that. The thing sending Collins over the top, however, isn’t her formidable talent but, instead, her discipline and work ethic. She’s a tireless adherent of her craft who seldom takes time off. She certainly hasn’t during 2022. Much of her work is the film world, in front of and behind the camera, and she’s experienced much of her success in the short film format.

All pretty words aside, what she does is much bigger than any of aforementioned attributes. Bottom line – her performances simply transcend space and time. Two of the short indie films Collins is participating in during 2022 are The Prof, a dramatic short from director/writer Debbie Markowitz with Anthony Robert Grasso in the title role, and the second is a dark comedy entitled Goat. Collins, in the latter production, plays Dolly, a likeable but put-upon character fighting against an unsuspected antagonist attempting to end her relationship. The indie short, written and directed by Mariam Bakashivilli, is currently in post-production.
She has a television presence. One of her major projects this year, the film Three for the Road, is transitioning into a series and writer/director David Patrick Wilson currently working on episodes for the first season. Collins will appear in the supporting role of Katherine Bangel in the forthcoming original BIPOC LGBTQ+ series entitled Clique from Ish Productions.
Collins will work for director and writer Andre Irias a second time. She worked with Irias before on the film Perception, a multiple award winner, and her second pairing with Irias finds her in a co-starring role as Helda in Walkure, a historical short taking place in World War II Germany. These three projects, a dramatic work followed by dark comedy and then a historical piece, puts a bright spotlight on Collins’ willingness to challenge herself. The work could be easier. There’s nothing one dimensional about these roles.

It’s a reflection of her personality. There’s nothing one dimensional about Collins as she also serves as Director of Music and Worship Arts for the NBRC Youth Drama Club and supervises the staging of two musicals a year for the club. She helped realize one of the club’s most successful recent endeavors with the musical comedy The Agape League and conducted the Hallelujah Chorus’ collaboration with the NBRC Chancel Choir as well. Her efforts with the NBRC are ongoing and she brings the same tremendous energy to it that she does acting.
Her energy is peaking right now as she’s riding the high from the recent film Three for the Road. This 2022 film festival favorite has landed the top prize from the New York Independent Cinema Awards, a semi-finalist nod from the Arthouse Festival of Beverly Hills, and Official Selections from both the Amsterdam Short Film Festival and LA Independent Women Film Awards. She pulls double duty for this film in both a starring role and as the movie’s Executive Producer. It’s a busy year and a safe bet that 2023 will be no less so. Linda Collins is out there on art’s front lines and engaging with material that makes a difference in people’s lives, hopefully, while still entertaining them.
