Formerly The Devil’s Light, Lionsgate has dated the supernatural thriller Prey for the Devil for release in theaters on October 28, 2022, just in time for Halloween!
Bloody Disgusting has an exclusive look at the poster in which we see a young girl being assaulted by a demon that “wants in.”
The one-sheet is just a taste of what’s to come with the trailer dropping this coming Thursday, July 14, exclusively on Bloody Disgusting.
In Prey for the Devil, which sounds like a new kind of possession horror film…
“The Catholic Church combats a global rise in demonic possessions by opening a school to train priests in the Rite of Exorcism. On this spiritual battlefield, an unlikely warrior rises: a young nun, Sister Ann (Jacqueline Byers).
“Although nuns are forbidden to perform exorcisms, a professor (Colin Salmon; Resident Evil, Alien vs. Predator, Nobody) recognizes Sister Ann’s gifts and agrees to train her. Thrust onto the spiritual frontline with fellow student Father Dante (Christian Navarro; “13 Reasons Why”), Sister Ann finds herself in a battle for the soul of a young girl (who Sister Ann believes is possessed by the same demon that tormented her own mother years ago), and soon realizes the Devil has her right where he wants her….and it wants in.”
Directed by The Last Exorcism‘s Daniel Stamm and written by Halloween H20: 20 Years Later‘s Robert Zappia, the film also features Virginia Madsen, star of the original Candyman, alongside Lisa Palfrey, Nicholas Ralph, and Ben Cross.
The film was produced by Paul Brooks (Pitch Perfect franchise, The Haunting in Connecticut, White Noise), Jessica Malanaphy, Todd Jones and Earl Richey Jones. Executive Producers are Scott Niemeyer, David Brooks, Michael P. Flannigan, and Brad Kessell.
Lionsgate and Gold Circle Entertainment present a Lionsgate production, a Confluence production.
