Lindsay Lohan has opened up about returning to acting with her new Netflix film, Falling For Christmas.

Lohan’s last studio films Georgia Rule and I Know Who Killed Me came out in 2007, and since then has only had pop-up appearances or semi-regular roles in TV shows.

In recent years, the Mean Girls actor’s has been the subject of headlines surrounding her struggles with addiction and concerning behaviour, but now at 36 she is ready to make her comeback.

Lohan reflected on her process of returning to acting with The Hollywood Reporter.

For me, my whole life, acting is like riding a bicycle, It’s just in me. Doing films, playing a character, it brings me so much joy to be able to share a story with people. To take people on that journey with me is such a blessing,” she said.

Falling For Christmas stars Lohan alongside Glee’s Chord Overstreet. She is currently in Ireland filming the second Netflix film in her deal, Irish Wish, and has her acting coach, Bernard Hiller, to help her.

Lohan explained: “I’ve never worked with any acting coach in my life! I don’t really see Bernard as just a coach. He’s more of an advisor of skill and a mentor.

“He helps you see what’s not written on the page and bring those aspects of the character to life.”

Falling For Christmas follows Sierra (Lohan) who loses her memories after getting into a skiing accident.

Helped by the lodge owner (Overstreet) and his daughter (Olivia Perez), she rediscovers who she is just in time for Christmas.

Falling For Christmas will come out on Netflix on 10 November.
