Jack White Posts Tribute to Meg White as World Considers the Viral and Bad White Stripes Take
Jack offers a poem in honor of his former bandmate, who has recently garnered words of support from Questlove, Karen Elson, and countless others
After journalist Lachlan Markay tweeted and deleted a bad take claiming that the White Stripes’ Meg White is a “terrible” drummer, it became a viral social media discussion among famous musicians, drummers, White Stripes fans, and generally speaking, many people who enjoy music. Jack White has now offered a subtweet of sorts, posting a photo of Meg on Instagram tonight with the below poem.
Questlove and Karen Elson were among those to come to Meg White’s defense. Markay has since walked back his now-deleted tweet and apologized to Meg White. The White Stripes, who are nominated for this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class, recently announced an Elephant reissue.
