Review: THE AMERICAN RELICS “My Impala”

Out of nowhere THE AMERICAN RELICS released “My Impala” on Tribeca Records and the song is creating an avalanche in the pop world. The band focuses on old school music influences, however, it appears they have a current hit gaining in popularity. Lead singer and songwriter John Gitano has his own unique sound echoing the shadows of time where it appears the video could take place.

There is a silent joy within the song. Our deepest desires are never seen but the peace we find when they are made is everything. Rhythm restored like the fresh new ticking of a clock once stopped. When something catches our ear, we can’t get enough of it. “My Impala” is just that kind of song.

John Gitano lived through the music of the 60’s, 70’s etc. He compares the eras to the song “Magic Carpet Ride” by the legendary band Steppenwolf. Adrienne Dugger contributes her amazing voice as an international opera star to the song. The rest of the band are all superstars in their own right, Nelson Montana, Ian Zane, Josh Salant, Joni Ernst, and Neal Lazar.

The song easily proves that the past is never lost. The world shifts, the climate changes but we strive to fit in. The holy Grail of music’s past THE AMERICAN RELICS seem to fit in today’s scheme of things, as well as yesterday’s. They remain relevant in today’s music’s beating heart.
