“Warrior Nun” Season 3: The Cancelled Netflix Series Will Return!

Horror

One month after the second season of “Warrior Nun” debuted on Netflix last year, the streaming service opted not to renew the series for a third, we learned back in December.

This week, however, the “Warrior Nun” news is surprisingly good. It seems that due to a whole lot of fan demand, the cancelled Netflix series is getting a second chance at life.

Creator Simon Barry tweeted late last night, “Today I’m happy to officially report that because of your combined voices, passion and amazing efforts – #WarriorNun will return and is going to be more EPIC than you could imagine. More details to come! SOON! Thank-you!!”

Does this mean “Warrior Nun” Season 3 will be airing on Netflix, or has another network/streamer picked up the show? We don’t have any details at this time. Stay tuned.

“Inspired by the manga novels, Warrior Nun revolves around a 19-year-old woman (Alba Baptista) who wakes up in a morgue with a new lease on life and a divine artifact embedded in her back. She discovers she is now part of an ancient order that has been tasked with fighting demons on Earth, and powerful forces representing both heaven and hell want to find and control her.”

In Season 2, “Ava and the Sister-Warriors of the OCS must find a way to defeat the angel, Adriel, as he attempts to build his following into the dominant religion on the planet.”

Alba Baptista, Kristina Tonteri-Young, Lorena Andrea, Toya Turner and Olivia Delcán reprised their roles as the core group of demon-fighting Nuns.

Meagan wrote in her 4-star review of the debut season, “With a silly title like Warrior Nun and a premise suggestive of another teen Buffy by way of Catholic horror, Netflix’s latest has vast potential to get slept on. The surprising reality is that Warrior Nun slowly reveals itself, throughout its 10-episode inaugural season, to be something special. A singular Hero’s journey with a witty teen antihero transforms into an epic, ensemble story that’s refreshingly ballsy and mature in the way it tackles oft controversial subject matter. By season’s end, Warrior Nun becomes full-throttle action horror with serious stakes, making this an insanely pleasant surprise that’ll leave you clamoring for more. Ignore the dumb name and hit play.”
