We are so excited to chat with Danjo! You are dropping a new single soon titled “Redneck Style”. Your first single together as a duo. Tell us why this song and why no.
Danny: Thanks! We’re so excited to be here! Yeah, I wrote this song a couple years ago with
talented Nashville writers Dakota Jay and Seth Dobbs! When Barefoot heard the demo, he instantly loved the song! Hotter than a goat’s butt in a pepper patch! Next thing you know, we were in Nashville cutting the vocals at Rad Records Studios in East Nashville! It was at that moment in the studio when we knew we had something special as a duo. Redneck Style shows off our fun and crazy sides; two writers, artists, and great friends that love making music together.
What was your favorite part of seeing your creative vision for “Redneck Style” come to life? Could you take us through your creative process for this release?
Danny: This song was a hoot to write! But I guess my favorite part of seeing the “creative vision” come to life was when we teamed up with Blake Lewis from American Idol to amp up the production, taking the song to a whole ‘nother level! He really brought out the energy and danceability; something we have coined as ‘party-tonk’ music! After we got the mix back, the song was screamin’ for a country line dance, so Barefoot hit up his buds, Kickin’ Country Line Dancin’, who brought the heat!
How did you first get into music? Is it something you’ve always known you wanted to get into, or did it happen a little later in life?
Barefoot Joe: Both me and Danny have been doing music since we were kids; although, our journeys have been quite different. Danny’s been playing keys and singing country since he was knee high to a grasshopper. Me on the other hand, I didn’t really embrace country music until maybe 7 or 8 years ago. I was actually writing and performing R&B music before; that’s where I get a bit of my soulful edge! You know, country and R&B are kissin’ cousins?
What goals do you want to achieve through your music? In other words, what is your musical dream?
Danny: We want y’all to have just as much fun as we’re having…for people to come hang with us on the big stage!
What is next on the horizon for Danjo? What can fans expect?
Barefoot Joe: We’re in the studio now crankin’ out DANJO ditties, new content, and music videos, and we’re just getting started!
