As we told you Wednesday, Disney/Marvel‘s Deadpool 3 is moving off it summer launch date of May 3, 2024, leaving the season without a kickoff film for now. The Shawn Levy-directed pic, which is going back into production, will take over Captain America: Brave New World‘s release date of July 26 next year.

But Captain America won’t be kicking off summer — he’s moving to February 14, 2025. We had heard that Captain America was in better shape than Deadpool 3, the latter 50% complete, and that Brave New World would fire off summer. Nope, not happening. Happy Valentine’s Day, Cap fans.

To make room, Disney moved Marvel Studios’ Blade from February 14, 2025, to November 7, that year.

Marvel’s Thunderbolts, which didn’t even start production due to the dual strikes, now goes from December 20, 2024 to July 25, 2025.

More moves by Disney include Mufasa: The Lion King sequel going from July 5 to December 20, 2024.

Disney also scrubbed from the schedule two untitled movies on July 25, 2025, and November 7, 2025.

Today’s moves could set the table for more release-calendar changes as other studios jostle for position as SAG-AFTRA members prepare to return to work. Sony, which controls rights to Marvel’s Spider-Man universe, on Wednesday moved its 2024 spinoff threequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage from July 14 to November 8.
