On the Radar: Back to Alaska

Books

February begins with a fine selection of crime fiction books to choose from, and we start this week’s roundup off with Iris Yamashita’s second novel set in Alaska, Village in the Dark. There are also new books from Gregg Hurwitz, Tony Kent, Tina Baker and Brandy Schillace – action, intrigue and mystery await…

Village in the Dark by Iris Yamashita

The sequel to Iris Yamashita’s thrilling debut City Under One Roof arrives on 13 February, and in Village in the Dark the Anchorage police detective Cara Kennedy must return to Point Metier in the hope of finding out what really happened to her husband and son, thought to have been victims of an animal attack in the Alaskan wilderness. As the book opens she is having their remains exhumed during the Alaskan winter but in the process digs up some deeply buried secrets. Readers of the first book will be delighted to be reacquainted with Point Metier’s somewhat offbeat residents, but this is a novel that works well as a standalone too.
