‘Saw XI’ Will Be an “Angry” Film with “Something New to Say”

Horror

If it’s Halloween, it must be Saw. Unfortunately, the franchise isn’t returning to theaters this coming Halloween season, but new sequel Saw XI is headed our way for Halloween 2025.

The games return to theaters on September 26, 2025, with Saw X director Kevin Greutert returning to direct the upcoming Saw XI. Fellow franchise alum Marcus Dunstan (The Collector, All My Friends Are Dead) is co-writing the script, and Dunstan teases in a new chat with Screen Rant this week that the “angry” new movie has something new to say.

Dunstan tells the outlet, “We’re writing XI right now, and Kevin Greutert is returning to direct.” He continues, “That’s one where it’s got something new to say, and it’s angry.”

Last year’s Saw X brought both Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) and Amanda (Shawnee Smith) back for a sequel cleverly set between the original film and its first sequel. The franchise’s return was a big time hit for Lionsgate, scaring up $111 million at the worldwide box office.

No word yet on the storyline for Saw XI, and whether or not it will continue the events of Saw X or again jump to a different spot on the timeline. Stay tuned for more as we learn it.

Marcus Dunstan is a longtime mainstay in the franchise, having previously written Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI and Saw 3D. Kevin Greutert directed Saw VI, Saw 3D and Saw X.
