Anti-trans activist’s attack on Pedro Pascal backfires: ‘Maybe you’re the weirdo’

Anti-trans campaigner Posie Parker, otherwise known as Kellie-Jay Keen Minshull, has taken aim at trans ally Pedro Pascal online, but supporters of the actor were quick to shut her down.

Parker took to X to accuse Pascal of being “gropey” with his Fantastic Four co-star Vanessa Kirby.

In the film, the pair star as husband and wife: Pascal plays Mister Fantastic, also known as Dr. Reed Richards, while Kirby portrays Sue Storm, also known as the Invisible Woman.

Posie Parker posted a video of the pair at the launch of the film, where Pascal embraces Kirby and can be seen holding her arm and hip.

In 2023, Pascal revealed that he manages his anxiety in high-stress settings by placing a hand on his chest or staying close to someone.

Parker captioned the clip: “He never gets the anxiety gropes around men, does he?!”

Pascal, unlike Parker, is a staunch trans ally who has a trans sister and has been outspoken against gender-critical figures such as JK Rowling. However, contrary to Parker’s post, Pascal is frequently also physically affectionate with male co-stars, as fans pointed out while flooding Parker’s post with opposing comments.

In response to the tweet, one person posted a series of images showing Pascal embracing and kissing men, captioning it, “He’s hands-on with everyone. Maybe you’re the weirdo…” The response has been liked more than 17,000 times.

Vanessa Kirby has also initiated physical contact with her co-star Pedro Pascal on several occasions, including during a press tour interview where she gently stroked his neck, seemingly to soothe his anxiety.

Someone else commented under Parker’s post: “Right-wingers keep trying to make Pedro Pascal seem creepy when Vanessa Kirby has done nothing but speak about how he’s one of the greatest loves of her life and regularly strokes his hands when he holds her.”

“We have to stop demonising a man who genuinely has no ill will towards anybody. Those ‘touches’ are actually something she’s comfortable with and understand[s] is helping him,” another response read.

It isn’t the first time Pascal has been attacked simply for being himself. In July, keyboard warriors targeted him for affectionately cuddling his lifelong best friend, American Horror Story star Sarah Paulson, on a red carpet.

One person wrote of the backlash he received for being close to Paulson:“On the other hand, last time you were all attacking him for hugging a woman he’s known for thirty years. So there’s that.”

Who is Posie Parker?

Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull, better known by her pseudonym Posie Parker, has fast become one of Britain’s most notorious anti-trans campaigners.

The British anti-trans rights activist rose to prominence in 2018 when she was questioned by police over tweets she’d posted about about Susie Green, CEO of trans charity Mermaids, and her trans daughter.

In the tweets, Parker misgendered Green’s daughter and made reference to “castration”.

Parker, who has built her following around saying “a woman is an adult human female”, currently has more than 174,000 followers on X, formerly Twitter.

In recent years, Parker has generated headlines after organising gender-critical protests and events in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and the US. She also founded the group Standing for Women – a campaigning group that she uses as a vehicle to vocalise her gender critical views.

In September 2023, media regulators in New Zealand dismissed all complaints over news outlets describing Posie Parker as an anti-trans activist, ruling that the description was accurate.

The watchdogs –Media Council and the Broadcasting Standards Authority (BSA) – ruled that it was not unfair to call the anti-trans activist “anti-transgender” or a “trans-exclusionary speaker” and similar descriptions that fall within the bodies’ rules.
