Celebrity SAS star Lucy Spraggan says she ‘ripped’ labia in brutal challenge

Musician Lucy Spraggan has revealed that she “ripped” her vagina while filming the current series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

Former The X Factor star and lesbian singer-songwriter Lucy Spraggan is one of 14 famous faces being put through a grueling series of challenges as part of the latest season of Channel 4’s rigorous bootcamp show Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

Filming the show was far from an easy ride, as the 34-year-old “Sober” singer explained in an interview with The Sun that she is having to have corrective surgery on her labia after tearing it during one of the challenges.

“I ripped my labia. It was bad. That’s not a common injury. Actually, genuinely, that’s never been the same, so much so I’m having some surgery soon to correct it,” she revealed.

Spraggan said that she isn’t sure what happened for the wince-worthy injury to take place, but she suspects a tight harness during one of the numerous training challenges is to blame.

“I was like: ‘This feels really bad. Surely there can’t be anything.’ And I looked and there was a tear, there was lots of blood and the doctor came over and I turned around because at that point you literally don’t care about anything,” she explained.

“Dignity has gone. It was like: ‘Oh my God, I thought it was your leg.’ And I was like: ‘No, no, it’s not!’”

Tearing her labia wasn’t even the only injury Spraggan sustained, either: she told the publication that she almost knocked one of her teeth out and fainted.

While attempting to jump into the sea from a helicopter, she also ended up hitting the water too hard, which left her with a black eye.

Spraggan said that the facial injury was still present at her wedding to her now wife Emilia Spraggan‑Smith last summer.

The latter incident also knocked her cheek filler out of place.

“I had the filler under my eyes and when my face hit the sea so hard my filler migrated to the side of my face. By that point I was just in pain everywhere,” she revealed.

“The filler didn’t migrate back, when I got home I had to have it dissolved.”

Lucy Spraggan isn’t first celebrity to be badly injured while filming Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, with another former The X Factor favourite, Jake Quickenden, rupturing muscles in his arm and chest back in 2021.

Former British health secretary Matt Hancock said that he got trench foot when he appeared in 2023.

The show sees a group of celebrities take on a set of tasks that mimic those used on the actual UK Special Forces selection course.

In addition to Lucy Spraggan, the current season of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins features a handful of other queer stars, including RuPaul’s Drag Race UK royalty Bimini and rapper Lady Leshurr.

Pineapple Dance Studios star Louie Spence withdrew from the difficult series after just one day, when he was tasked with saving fake hostages from a building before blowing it up – yet he blew the building up with hostages still inside.

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins continues on Monday 11 August at 9pm on Channel 4.
