The Las Culturistas Culture Awards may have been and gone, but it turns out that Ben Platt’s iconic cover of “Diet Pepsi” is forever.

Hosted by Wicked star Bowen Yang and Fire Island’s Matt Rogers, the Las Culturistas’ podcast hosts saw their annual award show televised for the first time last week on Bravo.

And just like its Grammys and VMAs counterparts, the show boasted zeitgeisty award categories, celebrity attendees, an “In Absentia” segment recounting why other celebrities did not attend, and enough musical performances to shake a stick at.

Alongside Yang and Rogers’ electrifying performance of Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra” and their “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing” trio with boygenius star Lucy Dacus, the Dear Evan Hansen actor also delivered a stellar performance of his own.

Covering pop princess Rae’s Americana-inspired hit “Diet Pepsi”, Platt transformed the catchy up-tempo song into an emotional ballad for his award show performance.

And it didn’t take long before fans were screaming, crying and throwing up over having to live another day without his cover being available on streaming platforms. As one fan wrote on following his performance X: “And if I say I need this ben platt diet pepsi cover on spotify immediately.”

Even the queen herself Rae responded to his performance, commenting, “Heaven.”

Well, the singer has answered his loyal fanbase’s prayers, having announced that, as of this weekend, his cover of “Diet Pepsi” is available on streaming.

On Sunday (10 August), Platt shared the single cover art for the song to Instagram and wrote, “Ask and ye shall receive. ‘Diet Pepsi’ (Live from 2025 Las Culturistas Culture Awards) streaming now.”

Fans have flocked to the comments in their droves, with one perfectly capturing the views of Platt’s fanbase: “My Spotify wrapped hates to see this coming.”

“Addison Raeving through a window,” another quipped, referencing Dear Evan Hansen’s “Waving Through A Window”.

“Plattison Rae,” another joked.

Overcompensating’s Benito Skinner pretty much summed it up when he simply commented: “Thank you”.

Ben Platt’s cover of “Diet Pepsi” is available on streaming now.
