Reneé Rapp on Call Her Daddy (YouTube)
Lesbian icon Reneé Rapp appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast and confirmed her song lyrics are true, she has cheated before.
Appearing on Alex Cooper’s pop culture show to promote her new second studio album, Bite Me, the Labubu hater admitted to cheating on her ex.
The 25-year-old’s album contains a wealth of admissions, from shading The Sex Lives of College Girls to calling out her girlfriend for hanging out with her ex.
The latest revelation from the album is Rapp cheating on an ex. Speculation arose from the lyrics to the album’s closing song, “You’d Like That Wouldn’t You.”
Rapp sings: “Without you, I’m useless, I’m small, I’ll be weak, only cry once a week. And I swear that I would never, ever, ever cheat… again.”
Speaking about confessing that she cheated in the song, Rapp said: “This feels so good to get all of this sh*t out.
‘No one knows every intimate detail of my life’
“I feel so relieved to be able to poke fun and something so horrible that happened to me and make light of something that I did that I’m not proud of.”
Rapp went on to note that after she’d written the song, she was anxious about how it would be received.
She noted: “Months later, I was like, ‘Oh my god, what if it isn’t received in the right way? I don’t know if I want to put that much of my personal life out there. I don’t know what I did.’
“Ultimately, what I always come back to is, no one knows every intimate detail of my life. This is how it should be. That is OK. I made something that I am really proud of.”
This isn’t the first time Rapp has admitted she’s cheated. Speaking on Ziwe’s show, Rapp admitted to cheating: “It was f**ked up. I was in a miserable relationship, which does not excuse cheating. I’m not saying that.
“But I got super drunk with one of my friends. I then woke up the next morning and was like, ‘All right, I think it’s time to pack this one up.’”
Who did Reneé Rapp cheat on?
Rapp’s cheating admission has led to many speculating about which ex she is referring to.
A lot of people online have commented that it may be influencer Alissa Carrington, who Rapp dated from January to August 2023.
However, Rapp hasn’t, and probably won’t, clarify exactly who the song is about. She is currently in a relationship with musician Towa Bird, who was her guitarist on the Snow Hard Feelings tour.
The singer has had some backlash to the admission, but many of her fans have defended her decision to include the anecdote in the song.
One shared: “the discourse about Reneé Rapp on tiktok genuinely baffles my brain because now all of a sudden people are like purist and cheating is bad. but whenever a f**king man writes about cheating, it’s completely f**king fine. i don’t f**king get it.”
“People getting mad about renee saying she would never cheat again in one of her songs knowing damn well men say worse things in their songs and people don’t even flinch the misogyny is crazy,” another wrote.
Reneé Rapp’s Bite Me is out now.
