While the summer box office was dominated by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, another major Disney-owned franchise is looming above the Holiday Season. The Star Wars franchise will return to theaters this December with The Rise of Skywalker, and the pressure is definitely on for. J.J. Abrams to deliver with his highly anticipated blockbuster. The nine-film Skywalker Saga will end with Episode IX, so fans are eager for any information ahead of its release. And now it looks like we may know when The Rise of Skywalker‘s full trailer will hit, thanks to John Boyega’s agent of all people.
John Boyega’s agent is Femi Oguns, who had his own career as an actor previously. Oguns represents some especially talented British actors, including Boyega and Black Panther‘s Letitia Wright. While the secrets of the Star Wars franchise are typically kept under lock and key, the agent recently took to social media to reveal that the new trailer will come during next week’s Monday Night Football. Check it out below.
Well, this is exciting. It looks like the full trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is just days away. The upcoming blockbuster will continue the story following Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi. And considering how high the stakes are, the generations of Star Wars fans are eager for any glimpse at Episode IX. Luckily, that time has nearly come.
Femi Oguns’ Instagram post is sure to make Star Wars fans very happy. Every day is one step closer to the release of The Rise of Skywalker. The upcoming blockbuster will conclude the current trilogy of movies, and hopefully win back naysayers who took umbrage with the events of The Last Jedi. As if that wasn’t daunting enough of a task, J.J. Abrams will also have to give the overall franchise an ending. No pressure, though.
The Star Wars franchise is methodical about its marketing, largely in an attempt to keep the secrets of each new release. The galaxy far, far away keeps footage limited with trailers, allowing audiences to go into theaters with fresh eyes. The Rise of Skywalker will be no exception in this way, especially considering the upcoming movie’s sky high stakes.
The story of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is currently a mystery, as we’ve only seen a brief teaser with content from the movie. Episode IX will reportedly feature a time jump, allowing for the sequels’ story to be more expansive. The group of heroes will reportedly be together for quite a bit of the movie’s runtime, in stark juxtaposition to the previous two installments. After all, Poe only met Rey for the first time in the final moments of The Last Jedi.
John Boyega’s Finn has been teased as a bonafide Resistance leader, after stumbling his way into the galactic conflict in the last two movies. I’m eager to see how he factors into the larger story, as Poe and Rey’s roles seem more clear as the protegees of Leia and Luke respectively. Plus, he’s currently in the middle of the galaxy’s hottest love triangle, with feelings for both Rey and Rose Tico.
All will be revealed when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20th. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
