If a picture is worth a thousand words, then an image from Louis Vuitton’s pre-fall 2020 collection is worthy of a novel. Literally. Creative director Nicholas Ghesquiere looked to vintage books and movie posters for creating the house’s latest lookbook. It’s a nod to the collection itself in which the original cover from William Peter Blatty’s 1971 cult science-fiction novel The Exorcist is printed on a T-shirt. Sophie Turner covers the fictionalized fiction novel The Haunted Mansion, Emma Roberts is The Dragon Slayer, and Jaden Smith stars in Lost Planet with a tagline that reads “You’ll never trust your laptop again. A nightmare techno-thriller, where no microchip is spared!” The theme makes sense, too, considering the Ghesquire’s predilection for a sci-fi driven aesthetic.
“In such a ‘wearable library’, each outfit writes its own chapter made up of romantic monologues. Peculiar dialogues between stylistic rebellion and fine craftsmanship. An account of sportswear’s encounter with tailoring. ” reads the brand’s press release. Stephen King is shaking.
