Madonna has scrapped two more dates on her Madame X world tour – the latest in a string of delayed shows and cancellations.

The queen of pop, 61, is currently doing a residency at the London Palladium but is now unable to perform on February 4 and February 11.  She is struggling with “multiple injuries” which mean she needs to do six hours of rehab every day she performs.

On Friday, January 31, she posted on Instagram: “As you all know I have multiple injuries and have had to cancel shows to give myself time to recover. So as not to surprise you I want to let you know ahead of time that I will be cancelling 2 shows – on Feb 4 and Feb 11th at the Palladium in London.”

She admitted that doing three shows in a row is too much on her body, and that she has defied the orders of her doctors to take a day off after every show, believing she can manage a maximum of two in a row.

“It’s a miracle I have gotten this far,” she said, giving credit to her rehab routine, which includes multiple therapies three hours before a show and three hours after. She has also switched to flat shoes and modified the most difficult parts of her show.

“This has helped enormously but I still need to be careful and of course rest is the best medicine,” she said. “I never want to cancel any show and I’m determined that I will make it to the end if I pace myself. God willing.”

She told fans that refunds will be automatically issued to the credit card on which tickets were ordered, but this won’t be much reassurance to those who bought their tickets from secondary sellers – or for those who have already paid for travel and accommodation in London.

Reacting on Twitter, the majority of fans shared their support and wished her well in her recovery. But a significant number expressed their annoyance as yet another show was cancelled, and suggested she call off the whole tour for the sake of her health.
