Mark and the Tiger Interview

Fashion, Music

Mark! Welcome. We heard you have a new single coming out – when can we expect to hear it?

Hello! Thank you for having me! Yes I do. It’s coming out on Valentines Day. Right around the corner!

We also saw on IG that you are putting out an EP. That is a big deal, congrats! Can you share more with us what the process of creating it has been like?

It’s been pretty nifty! I didn’t actually set out to create an EP. I was just refining my sound and creating singles. Figuring out who I am. But the last four or five songs that I’ve written, even though they’re all super different, have a similar vibe. It just seemed right to put them all together. And I’m throwing in a few other singles too just because. Keeping it eclectic!

We love that you are a wordsmith and create amazing imagery through songwriting. How important is it for you to write your own music?

Thank you so much! That’s really gracious of you to say. It’s extremely important for me to write my own music. First of all, I just love to tell stories. But more than that I think I have real messages I want to send, emotions I want to convey. I’m not the most outspoken person in the world but music is my way to make a statement.

Can you share more what your songwriting process is like? What sparks your creativity to set and pen a song?

I don’t know if I could give you a specific answer. The sparks just come from my own experiences. But as far as the writing process goes, I get most of my ideas while I’m driving in my car. I usually take tons and tons of voice memos and then piece them together.

We know you are currently in LA, but have you ever considered moving and pursuing music in another city?

Every so often I think about packing up my stuff and heading to Nashville. I’ve been there once and loved it. And let’s face it, these days it’s the place to be for music in America. But I think that there is still a lot more for me to do here in LA. Plus, I don’t know if my husband would be down for the switch-a-roo. But maybe I’ll head there for a few months someday soon and just test the waters.

Any shows coming up where fans can catch maybe a sneak peek of new music?

You’ll have to wait until the end of spring. I’m taking the next few months to really get my shit together and make sure my music is ready to go. But pnvce I start touring I’ll be doing it for a while so check out my website for dates!
