Supergirl is one of the most powerful characters in DC Comics. This is to be expected as Supergirl is also the cousin of Kal-El or Superman. She possesses all the powers of the Man of Steel, allowing her to go toe to toe with some of the most powerful villains in the DC Universe. That being said, in issue 26 of Supergirl, Kara Zor-El did something that was considered impossible even for Superman to do, she killed one of the most resilient and durable characters of all time – Lobo.
The story begins by following Lobo on one of his assassination contracts. Lobo is threatening his employers after he was given false information as to where his ‘imposter’ was located. In order to calm Lobo down, his employers offer him a new contract, telling him to hunt someone on Earth. The comic then cuts to show a laboratory deep underneath the Earth’s surface, showing Supergirl descending into the lab, much to the surprise of Doctor Ingrid Hansen and Shay Veritas. Supergirl came to this facility to get tested for any symptoms of kryptonite poisoning. After months of testing, the Girl of Steel finds out that she is completely free of the kryptonite radiation, much to the surprise of Shay Veritas. The two talk about how Supergirl stole an experimental rocket bike and blasted off into deep space, with Supergirl recounting her harrowing experiences to Veritas.

The comic then cuts back to Lobo, showing the assassin to be tracking Shay Veritas, believing that she will have the information that he’s looking for. A message is then broadcast for Veritas to see, warning the scientist that Lobo is on his way. Veritas informs Supergirl that Lobo, or the Czarnian as Veritas calls him, is part of an extinct race and that he’s more dangerous than anyone Supergirl’s faced before. Supergirl then heads to the surface to take on Lobo, warning him to ‘stop right there’. She then tries to reason with him, attempting to find common ground on the fact that they’re both from dead alien races. This doesn’t work, however, and Lobo throws a flash resin net over Supergirl. It doesn’t hold for long, and the Kryptonian breaks out. A brief fight takes place between the two, but Supergirl rears a powerful punch and strikes Lobo square in the face while shouting ‘NO MORE’.
While Lobo was killed in the fight, he wouldn’t stay dead. In the next issue, he returns from the dead. Keeping Lobo down isn’t easy, but Supergirl definitely killed him (at least temporarily) by accident.
What makes this such a huge comic book moment is that Lobo isn’t only one of the best and strongest fighters in the DC Universe, but he also has one of the strongest and most effective healing factors in the DC Universe. The character has even been shown to be capable of regenerating from a single drop of blood, so the fact that Supergirl was able to kill the Czarnian with one punch really shows that she is operating on some insane power levels.
