The avalanche of glitches continues with the latest release with Cyberpunk 2077, with one frequent bug now giving players an unexpected NPC companion. This is one of the many glitches that has kept popping up with the latest release of Cyberpunk 2077, a game that was announced nearly a decade ago and was finally released last week after numerous delays.
Ever since the first day of release, Cyberpunk has been littered with issues and glitches that have made some of the game basically unplayable. Many players have complained how it’s nearly impossible to play it on Xbox One or PlayStation 4, and have been requesting refunds. There have been multiple reports of crashes of the game, and being stuck in infinite loops. And of course, the glitches that have been trending on the internet have kept coming in, some being more ridiculous after the other – even one that had player’s character private parts sticking out of their clothing.
But a glitch that’s being documented by players on Reddit at least gives them some companionship. As furtiveraccoon pointed out on Reddit, an NPC from an earlier mission, Dum Dum, kept following around the player once they completed the quest, and during an important conversation during the plot of the game, he was stuck right in between a father and son, yelling at each other, just staring at the player while this serious talk was happening. Dum Dum stuck around for other missions as well, accompanying the player through city exploration and even combat. It was as if Dum Dum had become player two. Eventually, however, once the player got to “The Heist” mission, Dum Dum finally disappeared. However, he made a reappearance when they arrived at a hotel but then disappeared on an elevator ride.
This is definitely one of the more interesting glitches that have seemed to appear over the last couple of days with the release of the game. Compared to some of the other issues that have been going on, however, this one seems entirely harmless except for the occasional blockage of information from other NPC’s. Even so at a certain point, it can probably start to get annoying when experiencing these glitches over and over again for a game that was delayed for so long.
While developer CD Projekt Red has promised that glitches will be fixed as they are reported, it’s a matter of time before this one is fixed as well. Until then, players who’ve gotten the game early and are now making their way through the broken experience can at least share their stories with the rest of the Cyberpunk 2077 fans out there.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
