Monster High, Mattel’s toy line depicting the daughters of classic monsters (including Frankie Stein, Draculaura and Clawdeen Wolf), is coming back to life with two new projects that were announced by Deadline this morning. For starters, a live-action “Monster High” television movie-musical is in the works, along with a brand new animated series.
Both projects will be coming courtesy of Nickelodeon and Mattel, with the movie being written by Jenny Jaffe (“Big Hero 6”), Greg Erb and Jason Oremland (Princess and the Frog).
As for the animated series, Shea Fontana (DC Superhero Girls) will serve as showrunner.
Deadline details, “The animated series will follow the characters as they navigate the hilarity of high school in the hallowed halls of Monster High.”
Both of the “Monster High” projects are set to premiere on Nickelodeon in 2022.
Created by Garrett Sander, Kellee Riley and Glen Hanson, the Monster High toy line was launched by Mattel in 2010, and various animated projects have been released over the years.
