Censor was one of the best discoveries out of this year’s Sundance Film Festival and introduced a brand new voice in horror, Prano Bailey-Bond. Meagan Navarro was a huge fan, writing in her review that the film “creates a mind-bending nightmare set in the video nasty era.”
You won’t have to wait long to catch Censor as Magnolia Pictures has already acquired the horror film and is targeting a June 11, 2021, release, writes Variety.
“The movie centers on film censor Enid (Raised by Wolves’ Niamh Algar), who discovers an eerie horror that speaks directly to her sister’s mysterious disappearance. She resolves to unravel the puzzle behind the film and its enigmatic director – a quest that will blur the lines between fiction and reality in terrifying ways.”
“Prano Bailey-Bond has delivered a frightening, incredibly original film,” said Eamonn Boweles, Magnolia’s president. “It is a rare work that has a lot on its mind as well as being genuinely terrifying.”
