‘A Quiet Place Part II’ Will Head to Paramount+ 45 Days After Opening In Theaters

Horror

While Paramount Pictures is already developing a third film in the now-franchise, the studio is working to get the hotly-anticipated sequel into theaters in the midst of the pandemic.

After being softly penciled in for an April release, John Krasinski‘s sci-fi horror A Quiet Place Part II was shifted all the way until September 17, 2021, where the film will open in theaters. However, in a move similar to Warner Bros. and their HBO Max, the hotly anticipated sequel will arrive on the Paramount+ streaming service 45 days after its release, reports Deadline.

This joins today’s major breaking news that the next Paranormal Activity movie will premiere exclusively on Paramount+, as will a currently-in-development follow-up to Pet Sematary. It appears streaming services have become the new “direct-to-disc” platform.

“Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.”

Part II is rated PG-13 for “terror, violence and bloody/disturbing images.”
