Even though Godzilla seems larger than life, the U.S. relaunch has struggled a bit through the years, at least until this year’s Godzilla vs. Kong blew the socks off the box office. All of a sudden, Godzilla is once again towering over the competition and excitement is at an all-time high.
In Japan, Godzilla remains an unstoppable icon and is next stomping his way into Seibuen Amusement Park.
The park has announced Godzilla the Ride: Climactic Giant Monster Battle (Or Giant Monster Battle Summit, which will be housed in a new Godzilla-themed section of the amusement park, reports Godzilla-Movies from a transcription via Yahoo! Japan, the latter of which shared the above promo image.
“Guests are thrown in the midst of fierce battles between Godzilla and King Ghidorah, and the thrills of sudden attacks can be enjoyed with a transcendental excitement,” says Y! Japan.
Adds Godzilla-Movies: “Two-time Japanese Academy Award-winning director Takashi Yamazaki (Always: Sunset on Third Street, Returner, Space Battleship Yamato) takes charge of the ride’s visuals. He is partnered with Shoichiro Tsuno of Sword Creative Team, a company known for engineering theme park rides.”
The site notes that Yamazaki gave Godzilla a cameo during a dream sequence in Always: Sunset on Third Street 2.
There’s also the “Godzilla Interception Operation Awaji” attraction in the Nijigen no Mori theme park, on Awaji Island, Hyogo Prefecture, which is based on the 2016 film Shin Godzilla.
Here are some more pieces of concept art that have been scattered across the Web.
