Even after revealing the Resident Evil 4 remake a few weeks back, Capcom still had a little something to show fans during their showcase at the Summer Game Fest. That includes the repeatedly-delayed Resident Evil Re:Verse, and the first glimpse of the Winters’ Expansion DLC for Resident Evil Village.
First up in the Resident Evil Village DLC is “Shadows of Rose”, a new story involving Ethan’s daughter. Rose has now grown up, and now has to contend with her powers. Desperate to be rid of her powers, she enters the consciousness of the Megamycete. It’s here she encounters “Michael”, a being who offers her help in removing her powers. It’s also here she meets a woman who looks exactly like her, along with a host of creatures and the world itself looking to kill her.
Along with “Shadows of Rose”, Mercenaries mode gets an upgrade with “Additional Orders”. Along with new stages, players will have more characters to play as, including Chris Redfield and Lady Dimitrescu herself. And yes, she does tower over everyone.
Lastly, Village will be getting a third-person mode with new animations. You can expect the DLC to arrive on October 28th. The DLC will also be available as part of Resident Evil Village Gold Edition for those latecomers.
As for Resident Evil Re:Verse, the troubled PvP multiplayer component that was supposed to ship with Village will now arrive on the same day as the Village DLC.
Then there’s Resident Evil 4, which got a bit more gameplay shown during the showcase, along with a story recap. Still no word on if you can suplex Ganados this time. Resident Evil 4 hits home on March 24, 2023 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC. The game will also see PlayStation VR2 content.
Finally, Capcom announced that the previously-revealed current-gen upgrades for Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 7 are available now for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. The upgrades include 4K visuals and increased framerate, along with ray-tracing and 3D audio. These upgrades are free across all platforms and PC.
